I'm thinking about getting back into GTA: Vice City. That game got me addicted no matter whose home I was in, mine or my GF's, cause we both have a copy of the game.
Been thinking about Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the PC. I had the game, deleted it, then when the 320 drive went bad, I lost the ZIP file, so I gotta find it all over again.
GTA Vice City is my favorite in the last-gen series. I love the 80's Scarface vibe. I have Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Xbox if you want that version cause I've beat it. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Oh, I can play some games, but there are some where I can't even get past the first level. _________________ John R. Gibson

I picked up Suikoden II again a few days ago and quickly put in 12 more hours to finally beat it. The story and characters are so much better than the first (and the first was good). The gameplay is relatively the same, simple but effective. RPGs are one of the rare cases where I play more for the story than anything else though lol. And it delivered nicely there. It got a little repetitive toward the end with you going to various city-states to hopefully persuade their army to join your cause, but it all ended nicely with a tragic twist toward the end. A memorable journey and is one of the better RPGs I've played in a while. Sadly I no longer have a PS2 so I can't pick up Suikoden III-V. Maybe I'll get a cheap one on eBay one of these days. This seems like a nice series. I recently picked up a Nintendo DS so maybe I'll get the latest title that's coming out on March 17. _________________
Just started Wild Arms 5 on PS2. I play my RPGs one or two at a time and I finish everyone I start. I recently finished Dragon Quest 8 (only took 4 years!) and needed a new one. This is my first in the series. I love the Wild West theme and the characters don't annoy the piss outta me. It's not overly anime so I think I'm really gonna enjoy it.
Also been playing Raiden Project (PSX). It's the first 2 Raiden arcade games together. It's a early PSX game but it's a nice little package. Even has a remixed soundtrack.
And of course, Seaman. The more time we spend with this "game" the more charming I think it is. Bree and I love our dry-witted underwater friend. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I downloaded the Legends of Wrestlemania demo on PS3 last night. Generally when I do this, it means I spend 20 minutes sitting on my couch with the SIXAXIS resting on my chest as it SLOWLY downloads the demo and then has to go and install it.
Once it was installed, I started it up and I was very pleasantly surprised at the love for old school WWF found in the demo. Hulk Hogan's "Real American" music blared and it was awesome.
The problem is the gameplay. I hate it. It feels lousy. Some of the best wrestling games ever made (I think) were WCW/NWO Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000. Why not make a game based on that engine, just with next gen graphics? So unfortunate....I'll give it another try and see if I change my mind, but the initial impressions are disappointing. _________________ Now you can become a fan of The Retro Machine on Facebook. This was the problem I had with the Legends of Wrestling series last gen. I love that old-school 80's wrestling vibe but the gameplay was ass.
I'd be happy with a Fire Pro Wrestling: Legends. I love FPW Returns on the PS2, but I had to make my own Ultimate Warrior... and Andre... and Kamala... _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Heh, didn't know you had a PS3. We never had a PS3 review on the show. Can we expect a review from you on the PS3? It's ok if it's a downloaded game, or a demo. Maybe we can bring back the old "Shareware Dimension" segment, and re-name it a bit so we can talk about downloaded demos.
Have you played the remake of Bionic Commando, or Mega Man 9, etc? _________________ John R. Gibson

Yeah I got a PS3 from my parents for my 30th birthday last year. Really my only interest in it has been Bluray if I'm being honest. I have one game for it, Little Big Planet, which I have barely touched as of yet. I mainly download demo's to see if there is anything that sparks my interest.
As far as Bionic Commando, I haven't played it but would like to. I have Mega Man 9 on the Wii Virtual Console.
I wanted to review Mega Man 9, so at least I can back up my rant I did on it, with something solid, but I'm getting the feeling I won't get around to it, so I'll leave it open.
As for Bionic Commando, if I ever get access to it, I'm goin for it. _________________ John R. Gibson

Yeah I'd review Mega Man 9 if I thought I had the credibility to do so. But the fact is, I've always been lukewarm on the Mega Man series. I play them casually, generally don't do so hot, put them down for awhile, and come back later. Not a bad series by any means, just not one that I've been too attached to over the years. _________________ Now you can become a fan of The Retro Machine on Facebook. Ohh, there's lots of games I play that I'm not attached to, whether a good or bad game.
I think if I was reviewing the game, I'd review it more as a sequel than a standalone game. Kinda hard to do it standalone after so many games of the same crap.
But, in the end, review what ya want. _________________ John R. Gibson

Just finished Super Paper Mario. I've played a Paper Mario for each of the last three years - Paper Mario in 2007, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door in 2008 and Super Paper Mario in 2009. It was kind of a private tradition.
The first one is still my favourite - it seems like the definitive Mushroom Kingdom story - classic Mario vs. Bowser scenario with way more story elements and mythology than you'd find in a standard Mario platformer.
Thousand Year Door was good but it felt like an exact copy of the original with a slightly worse story and sharper graphics. Good game but I don't think it pushed things far enough. It just felt like the same game again. Still well-worth playing.
Super Paper Mario was really good - I like how they mixed things up with the real-time platformer gameplay. I liked it better than the gamecube game but not as much as the original - mostly just because the story wasn't as strong. Still definitely recommended.
Ya know, I would have liked to finish Super Paper Mario. That was a fun game, wouldn't have minded owning it too. That, and Excitetruck.
