The first show of 2009 brings you reviews to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist for the Genesis, a review of the short film called George Lucas in Love. Our newcomer, Chris, tells us about The New Tetris for Nintendo 64, and Matt gets tipsy with Wine & Comics.

another great episode my friend
Matt being almost drunk is freakin priceless. Would be funny to see him drunk while playing a game sometime.
Great show again. Major props to the new guy for having guts, its not easy, but ya did a good job! And Matthew's review actually made me want to hit up my local non-gamestop store and get it.
Great job all around

Thanks! I tried....I'm glad it came out ok. Loved the episode as a whole, the wine and comics thing and the George Lucas short were alot of fun. The WWI game looked like a blast.
John Gibson
Now we just gotta add you to the logo, if you plan on staying. So far, no one has yet quit the scene.

Bravo! Another stellar episode. Welcome to VMTV, Chris. Your reviews for 'The New Tetris', and the Commodore 64 book were very nice. I'm not so sure if i want to see Matt get drunk anymore. You don't want to give comics the same bad rap that videogames have. (My view, games, and comics are for different age groups.) After watching the 'Captain Marvel' review, i wonder if we'll be seeing reviews for Filmation's take on the character. (Which includes the 70's live action series, and the 80's cartoon which features 'Hero High'.) Wonder why Earl, and D.U.K.E were in such a hurry? Did Earl do something so bad that the authorities had to step in? Guess we'll have to wait, and see. Keep up the good work!

First, congrats on 14 years! Great show as always! Thanks for the hard work you all put into it each time - everyone always does such a fantastic job!
I can't believe I had forgotten about "George Lucas in Love." Holy crap, has it really been over a decade since it was produced? Gah, time goes by too fast.
Chris, very good work on your grand debut! I didn't even grow up using the C-64, but I enjoyed the book review and will need to check it out.
I demand more tipsy/drunk clips with Matt and agree with GameLifeDave, a drunk gaming review might be a good thing. I need to go back and count how many times the comic book was flashed up in front of the camera lens.

One thing about the captain Marvel. as soon as I got the links form john, 5 minutes into the captain marvel serials, I found myself torrenting the 1966 Batman series lol. Go figure? How does that work lol

Holy crap! AtariGirl!!! Great to see ya, nice of you to come out from behind the shadows.
Seriously, thanks for the kind words, Laura. I know Matt and Chris would be thrilled that you enjoyed their stuff. Honestly, I had that Wine & Comics bit for some time, but Matt and I had some doubts about putting it in. Now we know better.
Chris was just awesome in his debut. I'm sure he appreciates you (and everyone else) enjoying his reviews.
And I reiterate, if we get more people joining the crew, it could mean going back to a monthly format.
Let me just say this. If that happens, you all can expect Season 4 to be monthly, for sure!!

Hmm, 2 totally different styles of film. One is a movie serial based on a comic. The other is a campy series based on a comic (couldn't think of a better term).
It's still on cable, but some odd Time Warner channel. Interestingly enough, you can also catch "The Green Hornet", with Van Johnson, and Bruce Lee as the sidekick. The narrator is from Batman.
"What's this?"
John Gibson
OH!
I never mentioned to you guys what happened when this episode was uploaded to Youtube. I received this in my email.
Your video, Video Masters TV- Season 3, Episode 5- February, 2009, may have content that is owned or licensed by Lionsgate.
I checked. There is nothing in this episode that is owned by Lionsgate, so I filled out a dispute, and shortly after that, there was no sign of any indication that I had content from them.
This was a first time for me receiving this.

When i was a kid, i use to play the 'Tink Tonk' games in school like 'Tonk In The Land Of Buddy Bots', and 'Castle Clobber'. Were these Commodore 64 games? f so, i hope they show up on The Virtual Console since they just added Commodore 64 games.

Good Episode.
I'll definitely take a look at those comics (Matt got fairly passionate about them, eh?). I do agree with him about the detail of the artwork (from what I could make out). Overly-detailed artwork can detract from the story in some cases but when it works, it can work very well.
Chris had some good segments. I had a Commodore 64 as a kid, so I'll definitely keep an eye out for that book. That machine had a huge library of games. Even though I owned one and had a lot of games, I'm still only aware of a small fraction of the library.
John, you should stop ruining movies. I've already seen 'George Lucas in Love' so it didn't affect me this time. But still, I don't think it's a good thing to do at all. If something's cool, you should just trust that the audience will follow your recommendation and discover the surprise for themselves.
You should take a look at the two Batman serials from the 30's. The Batcave and the Bat Signal both originated in those serials and were later put into the comics (kind of similar to how Harley Quinn was created in the Animated series and then assimilated into the comics).
The WWI flight sim looks interesting. I doubt I'll get around to it but I do like that type of game so if I do find it by chance I'll 'Try it'.
Great Episode guys. Welcome Chris. I hope we see more from you.

LOL, yeah, maybe I should stop or cut back on ruining movies. We'll see next time I come across a film.
I would love to review the Batman serials. I've seen them available on DVD, which would probably be better than downloading them from a streaming site, I got Captain Marvel from Blip.tv. Trust me, making those few episodes into a format that can be edited into Premiere was a pain in the ass.

Finally got around to watching. Awesome work everyone!
Chris, welcome and nice review, dude. Glad to have you on board, matey! Fall of the Foot Clan killed a lot of time for me riding in the back seat as a kid. It was a very solid game to be so early in the life of the Game Boy.
Since we can swear now: Great FUCKIN episode!!!
John Gibson
Thanks man!
So what's next on the agenda? Does Bree still want to review Indigo Prophecy? It's also been a while since you guys reviewed a movie.
And has anyone else noticed I switched back to Season 2 graphics for some of the segments?
KT Kore
I noticed. I liked season 2's look the most so I was happy about that.
John Gibson
Yeah, I mean the animations were fine for Season 3, but I get kinda tired of changing the graphics every year. This is VMTV, not John Madden football.
KT Kore
*laughs* Yeah. It's probably a better idea to keep the same look for a while since it helps build identity.
John Gibson
I agree
Chris

Hey thanks. My favorite segment of yours was how to remove the price stickers from games. Really practical and I have far too many games with smudged price stickers on them.

Yeah I loved that segment as well. I've tried it and it works great. Thanks for the tip by the way BFNC. lol
