Video Masters TV- Season 3, Episode 2- September, 2008

Possibly tonight. I left it rendering when I left the house this morning. I'll watch it tonight, and if no errors, show goes public.

Stay tuned...

This month, we'll bring you part 2 of our Play View to Shenmue for the Dreamcast. There are reviews to Mega Man Vs Metroid, and B.O.B for the Genesis, as well as a look at the New Adventures of Captain S. This plus a new segment called Digital Dig.

Awesome episode, John! I had to kinda skim through it at work with the volume down (shhh!!). Can't wait to fully see the episode.

Guess my footage was useful. Proud to help out!

Once again, this was another solid episode. Great use of your 'clone' worker encouraging Earl to broadcast himself. This could've led to a funny scene with the city panicing, but oh well.

Matt's tutorial on removing stickers from game cases was nice, and informative. I use 'Goo Gone', myself, but i usually store my discs in jewel cases from Staples. (Different strokes, i guess.) Had no idea that stuff can remove white out. I do recall using rubbing alcohol for game cartridges in addition to the solution that came with the cleaning kits i would try out.

The The 'Play View' of 'Shenmue' made me glad i never played this. Even with the inclusion of classic Sega arcade games from Yu Suzuki, i still wouldn't touch 'Senmue'. Still, no matter how bad your experience was, it's nothing compared to The Nostalgia Critic's review of 'Bebe's Kids' for the Super NES.

I do remember watching 'Starcade' way back in the early 80's on TBS. (Back when it was WTBS in Atlanta.)

I'm still getting acquainted with Starcade. It's a cool show.

It's funny, there was another angry gamer, the Grumpy Gamer Bitch, who reviewed Bebe's Kids first. But like James the nerd said, there's no sign up sheet. Both reviews were cool.

It's funny, I was trying to find a video of Times Square, with all the TV screens, and stuff, but there wasn't one where the camera remained stationary. They were always panning.

Would have been cool if I got video of New Yorkers just looking at one of those screens (pretending it was Earl).

I enjoyed the Play View of Shenmue.
I don't mind games where a bit of exploration is necessary (the Metroid series etc.) but it has to be intuitive. That town in Shenmue is just awkward to get around and the NPCs are annoying. Maybe if the controls were a bit more fun, you'd be willing to put the time in to the game but that is one awkward control scheme.

Still, I wouldn't criticise the graphics. They were damned good for the time. If I remember correctly, Shenmue was a Dreamcast launch game, which would have put it a year before the PS2 was even released. Nobody had seen anything like that before.

Not sure if I completely understood Earl's question. KITT is fully black and KARR has the grey on the sides. Did they make a mistake in the episode or something? (Sorry, if we're not supposed to answer here).

Great episode.
The only complaint I have is using the old review. It worked out pretty well but the production quality was definitely alot lower than the rest of the show - there were a couple of odd cuts in the gameplay footage. In context, that makes sense but still, I'd say it's best to stick with new stuff in the new shows.
John Gibson

If you watch the episode of Knight Rider, KARR is fully black, like KITT (like Earl said). KARR then got this mysterious paint job after crashing into Devon's semi and stealing some laser. When you see KARR drive up to an ATM machine, it suddenly has a two tone paint job. There's no explanation for this, and I checked the Wikipedia page on KARR, and it just says basically "yeah, it got a paint job". Doesn't say how, or why.

In regards to using one of our old reviews, I wanted to add an old review in there, plus wanted to have Jason in the show in some form. Currently, Jay's dealing with moving out, and it's hard for him to commit to filming and doing a review of any kind.

The reason for the low quality is this is straight off VHS tapes from 10 years ago. Naturally, the quality is going to be poor. The original review is also on Youtube, under "Classic Video Masters" episodes.

Finally got to watch the episode. Great work, dude.

I didn't think Shenmue would get any better for you, John! Laughing

I thought Sewer Shark was a decent game. Not as bad as a lot of the FMV Sega CD games. It's a shame that they didn't focus on more traditional games for that system, because when they did, the Sega CD was a pretty good game system.

I think I sounded a little stiff in the B.O.B. review, but oh well.

I love Captain S! Great show. I want that DVD set.

Digital Dig is gonna be a great addition to the show. Lots of cool stuff out there.

Jasons' VMTV throwback review was cool, too. Never played Shadows of the Empire... never had a 64... Sad

Once again great work John. Bring on October!

Since 'Sewer Shark' has already been covered, i thought i'd show you a review of the game by Taco-Man.
