Video Masters Radio- Episode 21- March 2006This month is a special "Bitch Rant" episode. NO Reviews, news, trivia, etc. You will hear a few short remixes and some tv themes, but the rest of the show is completely unscripted, unrehearsed, and UNCENSORED. Also, Matt AKA Jakdin, who is gracious enough to provide webspace for VMR is doing this rant with us. We talk about everything from games, movies, tv shows, whatever. Just plain going on about nothing. Let us know how you like it.
Follow this link later on tonight, about midnight:

Show XXIHi Mr Monkeyfat. Heard your show and it was distracting from everyday life but i for one would like a more structured show or scripted as you said.(I've learned about your show trough RGR and i heard of that from UK retro gamer magazine)
I guess that you will reach more people when you keep it more structured. Now it was like a "live discussion forum" you know. You seem like a fun guy with a great voice to listen to though. Why don't you keep old show available for download anyway? Ok then, i've talked to you now & keep up the good work.
Ps If you don't have a job, come to belgium. If you don't have a job here and you have kids you could get a grand a month . It's called social security. Of course in america everybody is busy making money and being short sighted so. Think about it!
Bye for now!

Thanks for the input. I do feel Episode 21 should have had a bit more planning. It was merely an experiment. I probably could have divided it into chunks and presented it as a special feature and span it across a few episodes. I think what we'll do is combine the two. Have some structure to the show, but at the same time, present a segment or two where we just are reviewing a game or movie without a script and see what happens, then.
I personally think the show was completed too early, due to the fact it was one long ramble. We had no notes to work with. The show we're currently working on has notes, but no script. We will continue to explore numerous ways of presenting Video Masters Radio in the coming months and check listener feedback to see what works best.
Thanks for listening.

Hi George, I agree with you here actually. The show is better with a bit more structure. I'm really not suited to this type of thing I guess but maybe once in a while I'll do a quick spot or some other rants... we'll see!
Enjoy listening to John! He does a great job.

downloaded some of the previous shows and loved 'em! XXI was a little less but you already knew i thought of it like that so...

No prob. Glad you liked the other shows, though. Episode 22 is still in the early stages, but rest assured, it'll have the structure you've come to expect from previous shows. We might throw a few surprises your way. Right now, I want to see what will work, what won't, and what needs MORE work. So bare with me for the next month or so. I'm not trying to fully break away from the usual format, but I am trying to mix things up a little, so it doesn't seem like the same old thing every month. Make sense??

Maybe it seems the same old show to you but for me it's brandnew and i love it! Your shows feel more balanced, more like a real radioshow compared to rgr (sorry, i have no other show to compare you with) with the music and jingles and everything. Great!

Wow. You may be our first real fan, and I couldn't be more thrilled with that.
Oh, you're gonna love this month's show. I'm working on more jingles as I type this, some will actually make it sound more like a real radio show, as you put it.
Just to let you know, george, I read your post live on the air at the beginning of this months show. Hope that's ok. I just had an issue of privacy involving mentioning my wife's b-day live on the air. She didn't want it, and I'll respect her wishes. I thought I should check with you first before the final show is released to the public.

do what you like with anything. i don't know anybody who listens to vmr anyway Your wife doesn't like you mentioning her b day on the show? why not? what's the worst thing that could happen? someone sending her flowers!

John Gibson

There's something I should do myself. Send her flowers. All I need is about $50, lol
|
george
|
50 dollar? That's some bouquet (or how do you call a bunch of flowers?)

I got an idea for your show John. Why don't you post the links you mention on the show? That would be more convenient than writing them down. Think about it!
btw John Gibson... Your name always reminds me of the Gibb brothers... Ah ah ah ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.... (never mind)

I could post some links, I suppose. Though I don't mention the amount of links that Shane does at Retro Radio. If I get enough links mentioned on the show, I'll also post them on the episode page.
You wanna laugh? Go to www.johngibson.com. No, this is not me, but I find it funny.

Been listening to your first shows. Did the m in vmr stand for music originally? You also got a lot funnier and the way you read the reviews in later shows is much improved. We all grow don't we?

Ah, you've noticed. Yeah. That's when my computer was in my room, and even when I had my door closed to record, I'd still have family walk in and say "who are you talking to?"
They've been doing that for years, even when I was recording for Video Masters, the TV show. You think after 11 years, they'd get the picture. I also think for the early recordings, my wife (then my GF at the time) was in the room with me. Think it feels a bit weird when you have another person in the room with you when you record. Fact: I was a bit intimidated when I was recording the questions for Shane's interview in Episode 15 cause people kept coming into the room. Can't get no respect. No respect at all, heh.
