There's been alot of talk here about remakes of TV shows and movies.
I wonder what everyone thinks about remakes of video games.
Generally I'm against it.
I didn't like Super Mario Bros. or The Lost Levels on Super Mario All-Stars. They were fun but I didn't like the change in graphics. The gameplay was still there but it was kind of like the Star Wars Special Editions - it was still good but had a bunch of unnecessary visual updates.
I tried Megaman: The Wily Wars emulated once and didn't see the point of it - I would have preferred a direct port than the graphical update.
For me 8Bit graphics aren't dated - it's just a different style.
There are exceptions though. I did like SMB3 on SMAS. For me the problem with the other games was that the style was completely changed but with SMB3 it did look like the same game just with added parrallax, more colours etc.
Also, I think I will probably try out Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

I've got the ps2 remake of Rampage. It's about what you'd expect. Fun but won't hold your interest long. I'm trying to get Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for my ps2 but ebay is a feeding frenzy.

I finally got it today. Spent about an hour with it and I think it's pretty good. Good atmosphere and music. I know some folks say that Castlevania should never go 3-D, and I was sort of skeptical(remember Castlevania 64? Ughh), but it stays faithful to it's predesessors. Same monsters, weapons, and gameplay style. I'd say give it a shot.

I use to have 'Super Mario All Stars', and while the gameplay is just as good, the graphical updates really don't add much to the games themselves. I'm happy with classic games just the way they are. No graphical enhancements will ever make the classics better. They just lose their charm in the process. I do like 'Pac-Mania', or the maze like mini game in 'Pac-Man World 2', but they'll never replace the original arcade game. That game is just as classic as the original 'Super Mario Bros.' in every way.
