The golden compas meets cretique from The Catholic League

The movie The Golden compass is set to premier in cinemas world wide at the seventh of December.

But already it has been meet whit harsh criticism from the American organization The Catholic League that protects Catholicism and catholics against discrimination.

They are all but happy for this movie and claims that it gives the kids an Atheistic belief, and teaches them to doubt Christianity especially that of the roman catholics.

On their site they describe the author of the book the movies is based on, Philip Pullman, as being a militant atheist.

Further more they plan to lunch demonstrations up to the days when the movie is supposed to be shown.

Okay when i read this i think what the fuck! I hope nobody is taking them serious.
I mean come on religion is okay in certain quantities, but this is taking it a bit TOO far.
So what if the movie is teaching kids to doubt Christianity, and to be atheist I would welcome such things.

But guess certain religious crackpots disagree.

I wonder who is going to call the white wan, i think there are a lot of people in The Catholic League that needs it.

Chronicles of Narnia has Christian undertones and no one is complaining. Look, it's a free country (supposed to be anyway) and film makers can do what they want. If you don't like it, then don't watch it. Christianity has been rammed down my throat my entire life, so what's the harm in some perceived Atheism? I'll quote a Negative Approach lyric: "Live your life for YOU!"

Golden Compass

For those of you that don't know. Philip Pullman (The Author of the series) is a devout atheist. If you read the third book, he makes his groundshaking statement in saying that God it an overglorified angel who sort of took charged. He was very blatant (I was flabbergasted. C.S. Lewis doesn't cram Christianity down your throat.). I definately think everyone should read Pullman because of his atheistic leanings. C.S. Lewis for his christian philosohy and Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" for Agnosticism (The belief that their might be a supreme being, but it might not be God). You can definately see why strict christians are flabbergasted by The Golden Compass (Of course, the story does take place in an alternate world. Who are we to judge?)

It doesn't really matter if, in this film, they say god is a gay octopus. If you don't agree with it don't go see it. FREE COUNTRY!

Nobody has a problem with 'Harry Potter' having 'witchcraft' undertones. But what do i know, those kind of movies don't really interest me, and quite frankly, i tend to find them overrated.

Things like this are the reason why I cannot stand organized religion. Gimme atheism over organized religion any day of the week.

I agree. I think George Carlin made a good point when he suggested an 11th commandment: Keep thy religion to thyself!

I also liked how George Carlin refered to god as 'an invisable man who watches everything you do', and how he send you to a place of burning flames, yet, he still loves you, and needs money. That always makes me smile.

I like the part about it says in the bible that anyone who repent their sins to Jesus can go to heaven.
That means that all the murders all the rapists well they can do what ever they want and still go to heaven as long as they repent their sins to Jesus.
But the thousands of Jews, who donīt believe in Jesus as the messiah will go straight to hell, thatīs a really "kind" god who does that sort of things.
