Reasons you'll never catch me gaming onlinehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vX0uwpE8Ro
This is reason #1. Because the gaming world is full of people like this.

Yeah, for real. I have never tried online gaming and I have no desire to. Everybody's a tough guy when they know they'll never meet up with the other gamers in real life. This little shit needs his ass whipped to put the world into perspective.

Is that a head set they're using? If so, then i see what you mean. I'd like to try playing online sometime, but if i do, It would probably be with people i know.

Here's the reason I don't play online.
Actually I've even had a few bad races on Mario Kart DS - Just people being really cheap, getting a star and stopping to hit me ten times instead of racing on.
I wouldn't be against some kind of VMTV online tournament though.

Me either, actually. That'd be fun, cause I know we'd all be amongst people we know, not kids being dicks.

I play online only with friends usually. It does make some games quite fun. Halo 3 for example has 4 player coop. I got 3 friends and we rocked the 4 player online coop for 3 days.
Online has its goods and bads. Getting a group of friends can make all the difference.

Here's another good reason:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG42S_PmRs4
I do enjoy online gaming in moderation. I used to play a lot of Socom, and a few others on the PS2, but lately I'm getting tired of my fellow online gamers. It's not so much what they say online, it's the cheap way they play. They play in the cheapest ways possible. It's like playing Mortal Kombat agains a guy who only know how to sweep. It's totally cheap and lacks skill.
I actually wrote an article on my blozine (blog fanzine) about my problems with online gamers.
Sorry, I'm not trying to advertise or anything, but it shows my feeling on the subject better than I would be able to tell you on these forums.

Well you got the worst examples of people.
But then again it is console you are referring too and multiplayer, not actual MMORPG.
I played a few of these games Final fantasy Online and City of Heros and City of Villians.
(tried WoW but it never said me anything)
The tone in those games are radically different then those guys in those vids and in your article 2Dgamer.
The reason is in a way quite simple these games requires you to get a Team in order to do many of the missions you are getting.
As such if you are rude foul mouthed in other words an Asshole, you will soon find that no one wants to team whit you and you get left behind, whit the results that the game soon becomes boring AS HELL.
Now as for PVP mode well in City of Heros/villians (the two games are tied to one another) you canīt really hear/read what the opponent is saying about you.
But if you donīt want to get killed in any manner possible, then stay out of the PVP zones and servers.
You can have play whitout going into those kind of servers and still have a lot of fun.
As for the noobs ruining the game for you, well a lot of those noobs are kids whit little to no patient at all for long tutorials, and there is a solution for that.
Eve Online is a MMORPG in space it has quite a HEAVY learning curve and as such you are pretty much fucked if you donīt take your time to learn it.
As such it has a nice way of sorting out all those Noobs that would give you trouble.
Again its team based and people talk whit one another here, so if you are an complete asshole in the game soon you will find yourself in the position that nobody wants to team whit you.
So while normal Multiplayer games might have a bunch of ASSHOLES playing them, most MMORPGS donīt have these guys running around, mostly because they quickly get bored and leaves because they are generally ignored.

Well yeah, I do enjoy games where you work together, and I don't want to seem like I hate Online gamers, because there are some good people to play with or against, but often times the negative takes over instead of the positive.
I just wish people would play with a little more respect for their fellow gamers. To me the Halo generation of gamers are most of the problem with my online gaming experience. The win at all cost attitude is to blame IMO.
As far as MMORPGs go, I'm too cheap to pay for them, but I do see your point on the matter.

Even that problem has a solution Guild Wars, the only thing you pay for is the game itself after that its free of charge (except for the Internet bill of course but that one you will have to pay no matter if you play online or not), and you can play all you want.
But the way i see it, is that consol gaming like Halo and such are relatively new, and as such it still got a lot of beginners problems.
Give it time and perhaps Microsoft and the other companies will get more control over it.
But i think some of the problems you mention you would find even if you play games like Counter Strike and other first person shooter games and such is mainly because they are competition games .
Such games, you can participate in large international tournaments and properly win quite a sum of money.
As such a great number of people that play these kind of games, are people who participate in such tournaments and are used that the only rule that counts is to win by what ever means necessary.
Though I agree on that starting to threaten your opponent and calling him names, is generally just stupid and brainless.

Does anyone know how much WOW charges a month? I heard from a fella on "Gamelife" that it's like $15 a month. Is this true? If so, I'd like to know how my unemployed sister is affording this nonsense.

From what I hear it's around $15 a month. Maybe your sister is selling drugs? jk.
