Pre-Video Masters days...Would you like to hear about it?

What I'd like to know is if you guys would like me to talk about the early days of Video Masters before it actually got its name and general concept.

Let me give you a teaser. It all started in 1992, I had seen this video game tv show based on the popular magazine Gamepro. It was basically doing game tips and reviews, and product reviews. I said "Hey, I can do that"......

There's your teaser, folks. The road I took to get there is quite a tale, and has its moments. The stories of VM I have told in the past never went before 1995, when Video Masters first was born. So I thought maybe you listeners/fans, might be interested in hearing how I really got started.

Let me know. I think it'd make a cool segment for the opening of the May show.

Man, that goes without saying! Of course that's a good idea.
And i listent to most of the shows now and i must say that around show nr 16-17 things are getting really good. (is that the period you got to know your wife btw? A thing like that could boost moral i guess Very Happy) What i'd like though is that you keep the reviews to the games you think are bad limited. Just say that this or this game is to be avoided (you can always throw in a funny voice or something though) but don't go so in depth. Save your energy (and last show proved you have lots!) for the good games. My favorite printed magazine gives attention to bad games too but they just print one line and give it a low score. These are just thing i personally like to see and i don't want to force you into doing something you don't like of course.
Ps is the may show ready yet? Wink

I met my wife in 2001, I moved to Maryland with her in 2002, just a few weeks after I did Episode 1 (and I think 2) of the Radio show. The trips I made back to NY was when I found time to do 3 and 4). By the time Episode 5 rolled around, I was recording everything from her computer until Episode 8 when I was able to bring my computer to Maryland. By February of 2003, I had proposed on Valentines day, and we were married in November, 2003. By then, Episode 14 was out, and I didn't do any VMR episodes until we seperated last July or so. Episode 15 came out in September, and I've been doing it ever since. Helps me to cope with the loss of her and our 2 kids, until we can get back together.

The bad games give me a chance to channel my anger and frustration. To think that something like this was allowed to be made bothers me, and now I get the chance to really rip into it. I usually only put one bad game in each show. Most others are either decent, or really good. It helps to explain (sometimes in great detail) why the game should be purchased immediately, or why the game should be thrown in the trash. If I just say "The game is bad cause of the graphics", it's not telling the listener much, nor giving them anything to go on.

As far as the May show goes, I have one review recorded already, a classic we all know and love. I just wrote the Reality TV bit, and later on, I want to work on the pre-history, since I now have support of it. You'll love that. Also have a special feature halfway done. With the pace I'm setting, the show might be available the second or third week of May. That's what I'm pushing for, if not earlier. I'll keep you all posted.

Hey, you didn't HAVE to go personal. But if you like to share those things, go ahead. Me and my girlfriend separated 2 years ago and have a daughter too. Everybody has their problems right? But staying together posed a problem also, so we chose the least bad solution....
Reviewing bad games isn't that bad i guess... as long as you mix in some funny voices. The Hook review was really good! Although the game is bad. I have to check it for myself since i didn't download the mame games starting with an H yet.

Wait until you see the bad game I got for the May show, which by the way should be done in the next few days. We might even have it for a May 1st release. MIGHT!! I won't make any guarantees. I need 2 more reviews, and I need to record another bit or two and the ending, and I'm done.

The Pre-History clocks in at about 7 minutes long. I'm sure you'll love the stories I have to share about how we got to where we are.

Take your time! Before you know it you'll be recording the december show! Smile
