Mario was the grandaddy of platformers and he created these worthy (or not worthy in Blinx's case) successor's to modern platforming. I think the arena is flooded with platformers and people will want to know which series suits them (i.e. I can't finish Jak II, it's too hard.). Thanx for your time!

One thing I would like to do is start a game or two that requires you to be really involved with it. Zelda games are a good example, though they're not platform, but you see what I mean.
I think that's the issue with a lot of platform games. Devoting many hours of play to them, but I would like to review one, rather than games that are easier to pick up and play (and have level select cheats).
No one wants to see a game review where all you're showing is the first level. hehe

I am a big Ratchet and Clank Fan and I watched the extras on the game (In the making of movie. The crew said they wanted a game where you can blow Sh** up!) I like it because it starts you off easy. The Gadgetron help desk (read: helpful voice) tells you your moves, but you can turn it off if you need to. It get tougher halfway through, but not insurmountable. The last boss was hard the first time unless you bought the ultimate weapon, the RYNO (Rip Ya a New One). I love the weapons (The Morph rays are fun. The Morph O Ray turns enemies into chickens, The Sheepinator turns enemies into sheep, and the Qwak O Ray turns enemies into Ducks. Unfortunately Deadlocked didn't have one). The characters mature as the series goes. Ratchet is a selfish Lombax (his race) and Clank is serious on his mission. As they grow, Ratchet learns responsibility and Clank learns to loosen up. If you are starting into the genre, this is a good gateway platformer for PS2 owners (When the PS3 one comes out. I really want to buy that.)

I've been playing through Jak and Daxter: the precursor legacy on my ps2. I think it's pretty good. Keeps you interested with the nice level design and so many things to do. Think I'll try Ratchet and Clank next.

Platformers
I like the first Jak and Daxter, but Jak 2 was a little more difficult. I suggest you start with Ratchet and Clank and then the two following it. The Storyline is progressive and characters from one may come back into the others. Ratchet: Deadlocked is a tad different and progresses the story a very little. If you have a PS3, I've heard that Ratchet and Clank: Future is awesome! Definately try it!
