'Street Fighter' can still be fun to watch sometimes. It's a bad movie but once you accept that, you can enjoy it.
I don't think this Chun Li movie will even be that. I had hope at first. It was a good step focusing on one character instead of everyone and Chun Li was a good one to pick. But everything I've seen of it looks terrible and the attitude of the team seems all wrong. They said they'll make reference to the game but none of the characters will have their powers or costumes (essentially ignoring the point of Street Fighter). I think it'll probably be like the Mario bros. movie, where Mario and Luigi appear in their colours (Red and Green) for about five minutes at the end of the movie. That's forgivable if the story's good but I won't get my hopes up. |
