Lousy Human B*st*rds!!

'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' is being remade as 'Caesar'.

Conquest was always my favourite Planet of the Apes movies. It was dark and had alot more drama than the others - somehow I could always relate more to Caesar than I could to any of the other characters in the series, even the humans in the first movie. The humans were trained astronauts, ready for the unexpected. Caesar, however, was a circus monkey, thrown into the big city and slavery. He was young and unprepared but rose to be a king. As a character that was always more interesting to me.
Also Ricardo Montalban was excellent in that film. Next to his Khan, probably my favourite performance of his.
The film was kind of a thinly veiled metaphor for the race riots but because it was still a good movie, that didn't really hold it back. Even taken out of the context of the time it was made in, it still stands as a good movie.

A remake is probably a bad idea. But I'm glad they've change the title. I always respect a remake more if they change the title - it's not replacing the original. Also, Conquest was the most standalone of the 'Planet of the Apes' sequels, so it's probably the best one to remake. Also, on the plus side, Tim Burton is not involved.

I don't want a remake. The original still works well enough for me. However, I'll reserve judgement until I see something more.

HEY i like Burtons movies...okay okay Planet of the Apes wasnŽt that good of a movie, but it smelled for miles away of a movie that he had been forced to do.

If they can make this remake, or re-imagining as he calls it, work then i donŽt have all that big of a problem watching it.
Though iŽll properly download it, rather then actually spending money on it.

I liked Tim Burton movies back in the day. Don't get me wrong, I think the guy has talent.
I really like, "The Nightmare Before Christmas", "Batman", "Beetlejuice" and others. I even really liked "Mars Attacks!", which isn't as popular the others.

But these days Tim Burton's movies are no longer honest. He seems to be pretending to be who he used to be 10 years ago. Every time I see a Tim Burton movie, it just looks like Tim Burton trying to be Tim Burton again - trying to be wacky for the sake of it.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is an example of this. It seemed to be purposely gothic and bizarre. I have no problem with that in itself but in that movie, it was so fake. I just couldn't believe that Tim Burton believed in it. He was just going through the motions.

"The Corpse Bride" was a similar experience. It was a decent movie but it was really lifeless. He was trying to capture the same magic he had in "Nightmare before Christmas" but it was so artificially constructed. It was more technical than emotional and just didn't work.

My problem with Tim Burton is that he's no longer honest to himself. He refuses to grow as a director, to become something new. He's too busy pretending to be the same Tim Burton who made "Edward Scissor-hands". And honestly, I don't believe he is that person anymore.

Could you imagine if Tim Burton was still involved with the Batman franchise? What weird directions would the Caped Crusader go down?

Heh, wouldn't see any freakin Bat nipples, or Bat ass.
