I was watching this video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=YkPSzYc7JHU), which is somewhat of a spoof of the Angry Video Game Nerd, and once the coverart of the game was shown and accompanied by that great intro music, memories started flooding back to me that I had played this game many times (rentals) as a kid before. I actually think it could be one of the first games I've ever played. I had to be about 5 or 6 then. Anyway, I had totally forgotten all about this game and I am happy that this video reminded me of it because it is truly awesome. The comparisons to Mega Man and Contra are legit, but this game never feels like a cheap ripoff. I started playing it again thanks to this video and it's just as great as it was when I was a kid (but I sure do suck more at it now, lol).
I definitely recommend this game to the old schoolers out there. Part of the reason I had forgotten about it is probably because of the fact that no one ever talks about it. So get out there and play it!
Perhaps we can see a review of it on VMTV sometime as well.
By the way, this guy makes the best spoofs of AVGN I've seen yet. I actually subscribed to him. Hopefully I'll remember some more classic games that I somehow had forgotten about, or discover some gems that I've never played before if he keeps making them.
