Is the show losing something?

I think since Episode 15, I've been feeling like the show has been missing or losing something (besides Matt). He certainly brought a lot to the table, and whatever he decides to do for the future of Video Masters TV is his decision.

But other than that, I felt lately that the show has been lacking something, though I can't quite put my finger on it.

It is a new year, and we are bringing on a few contributers, and see if they have what it takes to be full fledged hosts. I've seen their submitted videos, and read their reviews, and I'm very excited to have these folks on board with us.

During filming today, it felt like a struggle. It's not that I didn't want to do it, or that I felt uninspired. Maybe I feel like we can do better, but am not sure what directions the show should take.

There might be some of you who, right now, think I've lost my mind, and that the show just gets better. There might be some who feel like it's stayed the same, or has started to slip somehow.

Everyone knows their feedback is always encouraged, and appreciated. Even though the show has never really catered to a particular person, group or audience, we do try to make the show entertaining and informative.

I hope 2008 offers more than we have done in the last year or so.

You know, I'm not much for philosophy, but I say never underestimate your own awesomeness. I think the show is great, was great, and will be even greater. We do need a way to get more viewers. Anybody out there who digs the show, show it to your friends. Got some guys at work you talk games with? Tell them about VMTV.

I got a buddy of mine into it by showing him the Batman: Dead End short that John mentioned on the show. Then I was like: "Yeah dude, I found out about this on this internet show. They talk about a bunch of cool shit."

The show is GREAT. Like Black Flag NC said we just need more vewiers and more feed back onthe fourm. I noticed VMTV gets alot of views on you tube, so we get alot of viewers just no feedback. Just need to think of a creative way to get peoplek on the fourm. I will be thinking: Any suggestions?

Most of the people who comment on Youtube are either subscribers only, or just folks who pass by, see one funny thing on the show and then repeat it in the comment box. Let's not forget those who hate the show, and go out of their way to tell us we suck, and to get the hell off Youtube.

Sorry, don't care what the haters say, we're here to stay, and we'll continue to thrive. I was seriously thinking about ways to either improve the show, or add to it. I thought of "The Travel Cam".

Rather than those who are on the show film out of their own home all the time, it would be cool once in a while to take your camera "On the Go". I know some wouldn't entertain the idea because they're afraid it might get stolen, or damaged.

But if you can have another person along for the traveling, cool. So what I'm thinking is not just film outside your house. Get away from the house, go to a coffee shop, film outside a Gamestop, or wherever. Pretend it's a blog, or something. The "Travel Cam" could be used in lots of ways, mostly for intros to reviews, or whatever last for 30 seconds.

In editing, the film will be changed to black and white with the words "Travel Cam" in the corner. I think it will open up the show more, and not everyone has to do it. I tried yesterday, but it was too noisy, so wherever you film, make sure there's not that much loud noise, like a truck horn blaring, or construction work, or whatever.

What do you guys think?

VMTV from the desserts of Utah, coming soon. It's cold as Hilary Clinton out here right now though. There's some wicked scenery if you get outside of Salt Lake City. We could really send ya some good stuff when we travel across the country in June.

I don't think the shows missing anything in particular. It continues to amaze me in fact. So much information in so little time, love it!

Thanks guys for those kind words. I really appreciate it!

There's only one way for the show to go, and it's up, and that's where we'll take it. Maybe the higher we go, the better we'll be noticed.

I've been enjoying the recent shows quite a bit--keep 'em coming, man.  Hope the new guys work out, and hope to see more from Matt as well.

The live shows were a lot of fun too--would be great if there were a regularly scheduled one either monthly or something similar.

I can see where you're coming from John. Maybe you should try some new things. Maybe like a review segment where you review say Super Mario Bros. than after Super Mario Galaxy.

ive only seen some episodes of the show but from what ive seen its wonderful

Keep the faith..

If anything I think the VMTV website could use a little more functionality.
Is there anyway the VMTV blog can be overhauled and used as not only embedding of shows but also blogging about media that would interest the VMTV demographic?

As far as the show goes, its Ace...I really think it would be cool to expand operations into having a video game phone in on Stickam, Operator 11 or Ustream.TV or something and have the shows capped aswell for highlights, that would rule so hard! I'd be more than up for that

Yeah, I would love to do a call-in type deal. The trouble is my availability, and the availability of others.

As for the site, it's going through many changes in time for the new episode. I've been rather neglectful of the blog. I was about ready to take it down actually. With everything that's been going on with the show, and having more people's submissions to edit, there's less time for me to do other things like the blog, but I'll try.

The show's great, jackass.  Just keep noodling with it.  That's what makes all the episodes different.  Over the Christmas break, I found time to put all the episodes on a loop while I cleaned the apartment.  All the little details started to sink in.  It's really amazing the level of detail and, many times, timing that goes into each scene.

Though, for some reason I'm beginning to suspect review recycling here and there...
