I purchased an xbox 360 a few months ago.And i can honestly say my money was well spent.I was as happy as the klumps at an all you can eat buffet.
I have 49 games for the console. But i do have to admit there are some games that don't fully capture the next gen look and feel.
Gears of war on 360 is absolutley brilliant. From the frame rate to the cg graphics to the whole atmosphere of the game.It simply screams next gen gaming.
But then there are games like viva pinata. What the hell were the game developers smoking when they decided to make a game like this.
You start what basically is a hobby farm, and build things in it to attract pinata creatures. Not only do you have to endure a slow and tedious tutorial.Which is as fun as watching my dog take a crap on my nieghbours lawn. But the voice of the female pinata that guides you through the controls, sounds like Macy grey after sucking on a helium balloon. She is so perky....so happy. That you would think she was an audience member on Oprah Winfrey's show.
You not only have to attract the animal pinata's,but you also have to breed them. This can be as simple as choosing the male and female of the species and playing a mini game to get them into the mood.
As your pinata's multiply and your farm grows. You have the opportunity to buy additional equipment for your farm which in turn attracts more animals.Every now and then you will have to protact your pinata's from predators etc.
But they are just a small distraction from the otherwise tedious gameplay. The graphics are bright and colorful. But they look like somebody was on lsd when they designed them.
If you are starting to think i hate the game.YOU ARE RIGHT.
I would rather be beaten over the head until i loose consciousness, with a copy of demolition man that was on the panasonic 3do.
I am sure the game developers thought it would be a cute quirky game.
But i guess they didn't count on the fact that for a game to be a hit,it would also have to be FUN.
Anyway that's my rant for the day.Time to get off my soap box and go and play abit of crackdown. Those pesky drug lords are in need of some serious whooping.

Hey,
congrats on your purchase, mj, and welcome to the forums

Thanks John.
Well i am more of a classics games fan.But i thought i might widen my horizons.
It's a huge gaming world out there.
I am waiting anxiously for Grand Theft Auto 4.I know it's another "sand box" game. But i like the idea of being able to do whatever you want in the game, when you want to do it.
Are you guys going to start reviewing 360 games?.
John Gibson
Hopefully before the year is over, I hope to cover the 360 in some fashion. News, reviews, whatever. Preferrably reviews.
The one question I see asked more than anything else is why don't we review new games? Most of our fans or viewers would answer "cause they're a retro show". In a way, yes, we are. We do what we can to devote air time to classic games, and modern ones. Our situation is the consoles we have now are X-Box, Playstation 2, and Wii, which are still being discussed, certainly. But we're not about to change the format of the show to feature ONLY Newly released games. We will not cater to everyone's need.
As much as I would love to get a 360, money is tight right now. Rest assured, I'd like to shoot for some 360 coverage by the end of the year. We're gonna try. Watch for updates, man.
Hope you're enjoying the system. I hear mixed feelings from friends.

xbox 360 games
The 360 is brilliant. But there are some games that just don't cut it.
But i guess that is always the case with gaming consoles. You can't expect every game to look and play like it's the best game ever released.
But i can tell you i am definately looking forward to spiderman 3 which will be released here in Australia on friday. Then this month we will also get monster madness (zombies ate my nieghbours clone).Pirates of the caribbean 3 (which looks amazing)and forza 2 (the 360's version of Gran Turismo). Not to mention tetris evolution.
And a few more titles that i can't remember right now.All coming out this month.Plus many more coming out over the following months, including Grand Theft Auto 4.

The XBOX 360 has awesome games, best online service, looks beautiful but the thing that makes me think no buy the system is the hardware issues that it has. I read all around the net and it's scary it would be the best choice for me if they weren't for those issues.

I'm really enjoying my 360. The games are good, the xbox live arcade is great, and xbox live is awesome. Well worth the price.
There are downsides though. My 360 has had to be replaced twice by MS now because of hardware malfunctions. All I can say is my replacements were hassle free, which means a lot to me as I've had 2 Sony products do the same and had Sony refuse to replace them.

Don't get me started on Sony products.I must have gone through 8 Playstation 1's and 4 PS 2's.
The laser units in thier gaming consoles must be cheap and nasty.
I never really had any probelms with my original Xbox,Sega Saturn or Dreamcast.
Even my goldstar 3DO ran problem free.
As for my cartridge consoles...they have never had problems either.Snes.Gensis,Master system etc.

The 360 will probably be my next console. There are a few games I'm really interested in, mainly Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Gears of War and Eternal Sonata. I'm really into Japanese RPGs so I'm glad that the Japanese developers are focusing a lot more on the 360 than they did with the first Xbox.

If I ever get a 360, I'm gonna have a hard time picking a game. 360 doesn't come with a pack-in game, does it? Remember when NES game with a pack-in? Colecovision came with a pack-in, Genesis, Super NES, etc.
When we got our first NES, it came with Super Mario, but that day, the clerk said you get your choice of a second game. I remember seeing Zelda, Ice Hockey, Urban Champion, and Kung Fu. Ended up picking Kung Fu, but did get Zelda, eventually.
The Pack-In, I guess, is no longer an option, I guess.

There are some 360 game and console packs you can get.You just have to look around.
But generally the 360 doesn't come with any games.
John Gibson
Eh. If they did have a pack-in, what could they possibly throw in there anyway?

Viva Pinata !!!

I love my Xbox360. I'm playing Lost Planet right now. Short game but rather fun and decent story.
