DESTRUCTOID.com is on my shit list. Here's why.

http://www.destructoid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12008

Here's the post that they edited.

Hi! I the only time I post to these forums is to spam my video review shows! Maybe if I bothered to participate in the community, this would have been overlooked. Too bad! I should really go fuck off and die already!

I'm responsible for the second post below.

Obviously, someone edited my post, instead of replying to it, and telling me this.

Really says a lot about their so-called community, doesn't it?

Before the post gets edited, here's what the second post reads

Cute.

One less forum to bother with. When people start fucking with your original post, that says a lot about the community you idiots want me to contribute to.

It would help if we knew what the original post said BEFORE they edit it.

But somehow i doubt those forums will last long.

Take Don Murphy forums as an example there is a forum that will last long.

You are free to express your opinion not matter how controversial and it won´t get edited at all.

There´s a forum that will last and have adults in it.

Those other forums sound like they are for kids 14 years old top most.

The original post was merely a cut and paste job from these forums.

We missed October, and we're late. What can you do? This episode is not a full hour as we promised, but it's still got kick ass material. Check out a 10 minute segment on Matt Rau's video game goodies that he picked up in Japan. We got reviews to Mr. Do on the Colecovision, and Floigan Bros on the Dreamcast. All this, plus a look at the Superman TV series from the 1950's.

Don Murphy? Name doesn't ring a bell. I'll have to take a look over there.

I would not have minded if they replied and said "dude, you suck for plugging your dumbass show", but to edit it entirely, is just wrong.

Don Murphy was the producer on Transformers. He setup a forum for fan input on his projects.

I visited his forums a few times during the production of Transformers. He seems like a bit of an a**hole to me. He's always really defensive - ridiculing people who criticise him (he produced Double Dragon) and really offensive to the users.
He's kind of declared himself overlord over the stooges (that's what he calls the forum users)

Also, he was originally slated to produce Iron Man. When it moved back to Marvel, he made a big deal about how bad it was going to be because Jon Favreau was directing it.

Funny how things turned out. Transformers was awful and Iron Man was amazing.

Also, bad about that Destructoid post. I'd never heard any bad things about them before.

Yeah, I thought they were cool when they did an article on Season 1, episode 6. So I thought it was ok to drop by every now and then to let people know a new episode is up. I noticed they do that a lot with other shows, in some cases, jackass type video game review shows.

No, I don't mean Mega 64. That show owns.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

The way i see it, only the guy posting on the forums should be able to edit his, or her own posts. Not someone else's posts. If certain news outlets had this kind of feature at their disposal, they'd use it as a tool to destroy their critics. That site needs to fix up their forums so they don't alter the other people's posts.
John Gibson

And you know, I'm not one to dictate to people sites and forums they shouldn't visit, and I wouldn't publicly trash Destructoid on the show.

It's just best to not waste my time going onto other people's forums with a single purpose, to plug a new episode.

I post here, on Digital Press, and Monroeworld Forums. I think I'm going to stop posting on ScrewAttack, cause no one seems to care.

When I first started these shows in 1995, they were on VHS, no one knew about them. I would show them to a friend or two, maybe bring an episode to school when they had the VCR hooked up. Otherwise, no one knew about my show.

It's a lot like that, now. It'd just be better to carry on the show as normal. I won't waste my energy trying to plug it or email news channels, or whatever. That energy could be used to make a better show.

Screwattack has user blogs now. It's a new feature from when they updated the site (a few months ago).

Alot of people use them to promote their own videos.
It's less intrusive than a forum post and seems like less of a plug (because it's almost a personal blog). Also you can embed the video on the page, which makes it a bit more accessible to people who don't want to click links and leave the site altogether.
That might be the way to go for Screwattack.

Also putting together shorter clips for their submission Sunday might be an idea. I'd recommend something more than just a review though - maybe include Earl or some other hook in it.
John Gibson

I wrote a blog on screwattack and gametrailers about the new episode.

I probably shouldn't just try it once, and if nothing happens, forget it.

I'll try it a few times, and see if anything happens.
