The Rock has signed on to star in a live-action version of 1960s cartoon The Adventures Of Jonny Quest.
Hanna-Barbera's original animation revolved around an 11-year-old boy called Jonny, who accompanied his doctor father on a series of extraordinary adventures.
Speaking to Moviehole, the former wrestler, real name Dwayne Johnson, confirmed that he will play Race Bannon, a special agent who is hired by Jonny's father to act as his son's bodyguard.
"I don't know if you've read the latest [draft] but it's awesome and it's badass and I...hadn't read an action script like that in a long time. And that action was unbelievable. That will happen," he said.
Quest could see Johnson reunited with his Game Plan director Andy Hickman, who has been tipped to helm the project.
High School Musical star Zac Efron has reportedly emerged as the studio's favourite to play Jonny, despite being ten years older than the original character.

While not a huge fan of Jonny Quest, I like the old and 90's cartoon (with JD Roth as Jonny), so I'm rather pissed.

I only remembers the show where they had the virtually reallity world called quest world or something like that.
In that Johnny was what 17 maybe 18 or something like that.
Seriously The Rock er.sorry...."Dwayne Johnson" has been in some halfway decent movies like The Rundown, Walking Tall remake, Get Smart, and Gridiron Gang. But now hes gone downhill with Race to Witch Mountain, and The Game Plan, and now he has this movie?..........Talk about a Rock Bottom, nobody needs to lay the smacketh down on him. _________________
I didn't think much of his role as The Scorpion King.
It was good enough to give him one line in The Mummy Returns, but not give him a whole movie.
He should go back to wrestling. It's one of the reasons I don't watch WWE anymore. Don't see the Rock, Hogan, Stone Cold, none of em.
