Anybody picked this up?

I got it when it came out and MAN is this a great game. For the unaware, it's what I'd call an evolutionary game. It combines the best aspects of a FPS (first person shooter) and an RPG (role playing game).

The FPS is much reminiscent of Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4. While the RPG aspect leans towards World of Warcraft. So they have managed to mix an FPS with an RPG to make an evolutionary new genre the FPSRPG.

The combat is fast and twitch much like Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. But instead of having items that are static, you find weapons of varying types and rarities much like Diablo 2 or World of Warcraft. You complete quests and gain xp for them along with gaining xp for kills like a traditional RPG. When you level you get skill points that you distribute into a talent tree much like the talent tree's in WoW.

To add to the RPG aspect is the weaponry. You can find any gun in what has been said to be millions of combinations. Handguns can do anything from shoot full auto to single shot to shotgun blast to exploding rounds to electric rounds and on and on. Some have larger magazines, others have scopes, and the variety just begins there.

I've just started my second playthrough where the game gets harder and enemies become more numerous. I can say though that it's a great game with everything pushed together quite nicely. My only gripe is the lack of story.

Yay's:
-Tight FPS controls
-Skill trees allow nice character differences
-4 player co-op over Live.
-MILLIONS of different weapons

Nay's:
-Almost zero story
-Repetitive enemy types

Overall: Keep it!

Dude, you oughta submit a video reviewing the games you have. You've been watching the show long enough to know the format, and all that.

I say go for it!
