Hey all,

O.K., I been recently playing the game Yakuza, and I must say I am fairly impressed. Matt had let me borrow his copy and I was expecting a GTA playing style but I was extremely wrong and very happy at once. First of all NOT everyone is somebody to hurt/maim but rather "Thugs", "Street Hoodlums", and "Yakuza" as well as rival gangs in intersections or just down a street. They simply are just goofy looking people standing still, easy to spot. There are ways of avoiding fighting all together if you want, just simply slip behind them or wear an item you find later on to make searching the streets for side missions easier! But, this game is made by Sega and definitely has a Sega feel to it. Plenty of fun and interesting side shops and stores as well as a few hidden places as well. There are also strewn across the city are coin locker keys which you go to the lockers and find everything from weapons to health to misc. items. The fighting system flows well and is easy enough to understand in a couple fights. I have beat it once and going through a second time to make sure I complete everything. Its a great game in my opinion and not to difficult to learn, my advice, a game worth playing at least once........

I enjoyed it as well. Like a Double Dragon/ Streets of Rage kinda game with a slight GTA twist. I love the backdrop of the Japanese underworld balanced with the kooky Sega arcades and ice cream shops.

I have Yakuza 2, but have yet to open it.

I hope Yakuza 3 hits the states.

I haven't played through the game. I watched Matt playing it mostly. He had me fight a couple Hoodlums though. I like the fighting style.

I kinda gave me the Shenmue vib more than the GTA vibe. Kinda like a more action packed Shenmue. Maybe Shenmue of Rage.

It's a great game, and it feels like an RPG at times as well. You even have random battles to contend with.

To me it was almost like we were finally getting another Streets of Rage with some RPG elements thrown in. The fighting and enemies weren't really deep enough for all the random battles though. Still, it's a great game. Good work, Sega.

Now give us some more Streets of Rage!
