I've been doing some new vids on youtube highlighting some of the good, but lesser known PS2 games on youtube as of late. The PS2 has a ton of great games that never got the recognition they deserved.
I'm mainly just showing off the gameplay, with little text blurbs in about the games in them.
I've only just stated, but check them out to see if any of them look appealing to you.
I'm going to cover other systems eventually as well, but I decided to start on the PS2 seeing how it's still alive, and you can still find it's games in game stores.
Cold Winter! Yes! I love that game. Very underated.
Big fan of Psi-Ops, too.
How about Freedom Fighters or Indigo Prophecy? I feel those two don't get the love they deserve. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I have Freedom Fighters, but I've yet to get Indigo Prophecy. I have a demo of the game, but I'd rather show off the actual game. It feels like I'm cheating if I only show a demo.
I also don't have Okami either, but I've heard a ton of great things about it as well. In my 100 PS2 Games vid, a bunch of people have ripped into me for not having it in the vid. I've only got so much money to go around, for all of my systems. _________________ http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom...18&owner=Umaro4&mode=vown
Bree is planning on reviewing Indigo Prophecy for the October VMTV. She loves that game.
Okami does get high praise, but I've never tried it. Love the Japanese watercolor style of the graphics. Hopefully it's not too much style over substance.
Some other great PS2 games that didn't get the attention they deserve:
Rogue Trooper- Great action/war game based off of a European comic book.
Gradius V- Even if you're not a big shooter fan, this game is stunning.
Sega Soccer Slam- I don't really care for soccer but this game is a blast.
Mad Maestro- Goofy rythym/music game with great classical music. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Well, I own Graduis V, and Mad Maestro, and was planning on doing vids on them.
My Shmup skills aren't that great though. I very much enjoy them, but I'm not that good at them.
Another game you should look into is Mobil Light Force 2. It's got an absolutely terrible cover. Some of the worse cover art to come out since Fabio graced the cover of NES games. It tells you nothing of what the game is about.

If you look at the cover art for Mobile Light Force 1 on the PSX it's the same as Mobile Light Force 2 on the PS2! Too funny!
The two games have nothing in common. MLF was a shitty port of the Saturn shooter Gunbird. MLF 2 is actually Shikigami No Shiro 1. Shikigami No Shiro 2 was released in the states as Castle Shikigami 2 on PS2. It's actually a much better port and game than the first.
I want to try Red Star, too. Hard to find that one, though. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Man, I've been capturing vid of different shmups to add, but I'm very much out of practice with them. I had to put Gradius V on Easy, and R-Type Final I had to put on east too. I know that some people out there can beat these games without dying once, but I'm getting destroyed, because I haven't put in the required time to learn each game.
The Same with Contra Shattered Soldier, and don't even get me started on the thrashing I got in Graduis III&IV.
I need to play these games more. I've just got so many that I don't have the time to give each one the play time they deserve.
I even have Graduis III on the Snes, and played it quite a bit (I've only had it a few years) a while back, but I couldn't get anything going in this one.
Oh well, a little more practice, and I should be able to put in a decent run.
Shmups have to be practiced, that's for sure. I spend about half of my gaming hours on shmups.
I have an addiction.... _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I go through phases myself. Sometimes I stick to my PS2 and 360 for a while, but other times I go purely oldschool.
In fact, my most recent console buy was a Sega Master System. I missed out on it when I was a kid, so I decided to go back and get one.
I also want a Turbo Duo (I missed out on that too unfortunately), a Neo Geo (I was always too poor), and a Jaguar. However, the Jaguar has, for no good reason, jumped up to being extremely over priced on ebay for no good reason. _________________ http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom...18&owner=Umaro4&mode=vown
Another game i thought was underrated was 'Justice League Heroes'. It's almost like 'X-Men Legends', and 'Marvel Ultimate Alliance'. I also think that 'TMNT: Mutant Nightmare' is underrated. It's the only 'Turtle' game in recent memory to get the four player co-op right. _________________ If it's got wings, i can crash it!

I gotta say Yakuza and Skygunner could be added to the list. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
