I donīt know if any of you in here have tried the final fantasy games, but if you like so many are tired of the direction the games are going, i would recommend Shadow hearts and the sequel covenant.

The game is in many ways like final fantasy random encounters long complex stories where nothing is what it seems to be.

But there are some differences, first of all there is the judgment wheel, where in a game you usually just press the fight option and the character hit someone, you actually have to hit certain points on the wheel in order to get the character to anything in a fight whether it is just hitting or casting a spell.

Depending on how you make it the characters damaged that he deals will be better.

Another different is the characters and the story as a hole where final fantasy always set it in an imaginary world.
Shadow hearts actually set it in the real world and take(more or less) certain events and such that has really happened and blends it into there story.

The story it self is also often much more adult and dark and the characters can be quite evil at some times, and example could be a boss in the first game that you have to fight is using the children of an orphanage he runs to mix in a potion that should bring his mother back to life.

i will review more of the games later or someone else could do it and post some game play videos.

I had the first Shadow Hearts on PS2. Pretty nifty RPG. It was different than the 23,675 Final Fantasy clones out there.
