This guy seems to be talking out his ass, but he makes a valid point. The controller gimmick has worn thin to a lot of folks. I have a buddy who rushed out and bought a Wii 2 years ago. He only has 4 games for it and hasn't hooked it up in 6 months.
Nintendo is and has always been brilliant and will do well no matter what, but the "casual" gamer marketing strategy may backfire in the long run.

I haven't touched the Wii in a while, either. So much so that there was leaky batteries and acid in my remote. Still works, though.
Got Wii Music yesterday, so folks, expect a review. _________________ John R. Gibson

You get out of the Wii, what you put into it. If you actively pursue good games, you can have alot of fun. Unfortunately there's a lot of shovelware out there.
Still if you look hard enough, you'll find some of the greatest games in recent times on wii.
Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid, Geometry Wars, Okami are all excellent games. Even the downloadable games are great; Lost Winds and Mega Man 9 are a couple of the greatest games to come out this year (or ever?).
I have a 360 and I use it as much as my Wii. That's mostly because alot of big 360 games don't appeal to me. I don't like Halo or Gears of War (controls suck) or alot of the 'hardcore' games. (Still like alot of 360 stuff and there's alot of excellent arcade games).
Still, it's unfortunate that Nintendo chose to go for a lower power console. It just can't offer some of the experiences that the others can. I loved Bioshock and I'm playing Oblivion right now. The Wii definitely could not offer this kind of experience, even with less graphical detail.
All three consoles have their strengths, and weaknesses. While the 360, and PS3 have an advantage in the graphics, and multimedia departments, The Wii dose have some good games that work on their own terms. _________________ If it's got wings, i can crash it!
I saw an article recently that said that 10-12 titles account for 90% of the the Wii software sales. So folks are buying Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Madden, and that's about it.
Once again, the pitfalls of making your console for grandma: Just because grandma had a blast with Wii Sports doesn't make grandma a gamer. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

There's a lot of terrible games on Wii. Because it's the best selling console, a lot of stuff is pushed onto it to make money. It makes sense that only a small proportion of games make up most of the sales - probably the high profile games - not necessarily the good games but games that are advertised well. It makes sense because there are so many games (probably more than on 360 or PS3).
The Wii does have it's limitations but so far it's doing well with what it has. The Nintendo first-party games are mostly great (even if they're not all to my taste).
I do understand people complaining about the hardware though.
One complaint I really don't understand is DVD playback. I've seen a lot of complaints online from people who want DVD playback on Wii. Most people these days have at least one way of playing DVDs - and if not, standalone DVD players are very cheap these days. The Wii is a games machine. Do people really want to play movies on it? ... Really? _________________ http://www.what-song.net http://www.rogershanks.com

The Wii lacks enough games for "gamers". That's not Nintendo's fault. There's no doubt that Nintendo's first party stuff will be top shelf. As far as DVD playback? I'm like you, I can't see that being a major feature these days.
I seriously think this is the weakest console gen I've ever seen. The top selling console isn't moving much "quality" software, the 360's extremely unreliable, and the PS3... yeah, the PS3.... yeah. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. The PS3 isn't as bad as everyone thinks, and now that nothing fancy is coming out on 360 anymore, people are starting to shift to the ps3 and realizing how good that is. i used to be a proud PS3 owner myself, and I only traded it for a modded 360 for financial reasons, but I do plan on getting another ps3 asap. _________________

The Wii lacks games because Nintendo keeps producing hardware that developers want nothing to do with. So I do think it is partially Nintendo's fault. Developers want games that are going to sell well, and that's a problem when it comes to "hardcore" games on the Wii since that's obviously not who the Wii is targeted toward. Most of the games that are going to sell big are either the gimmicky stuff like Wii Fit, or Nintendo's first party games like Mario or Zelda. Games like The Conduit or MadWorld seem to be rare because developers would rather make those games for PS3 or 360. Then there's the whole issue with multiplatforming which is a BIG problem when it comes to developing "down" to the Wii. Most developers would rather not be bothered and just develop for PS3 and 360, leaving the Wii out (which has been a big problem for Nintendo since the N64 days since they're always the odd man out somehow when it comes to hardware or format).
But I guess Nintendo doesn't really care since they're making tons of money targeting the casual gamers. lol _________________
2. the overhyped games are boring once you beat it cause it has no good replay value
3. everytime when a game comes out on all HD Consoles, the Wii version of that game is always the worst one
4. Its Online Play Sucks (Brawl lags like hell)
5. all 3rd parties for the wii sucks (Except Sega and Capcom)
6. Its sad that the Wii has to rely on a last gen Controller just for people who don't wanna use the wiimote
As of right now, Nintendo is getting lazy, instead of making a fully new Marios Tennis, their re-releasing the Gamecube version on the wii, no differences, go grapical Improvments, its the same exact game from the gamecube version. Only differenct is that you can use the Wiimote. *sighs* why nintendo, why?
