Only plays the games sometimes. The rentals will come up as Unplayable Disc, but then, if I do a rain dance basically, eject and re-insert the game, eventually, it'll work. WTF? _________________ John R. Gibson

That sucks, dude. I've heard that this is the most unreliable system ever. Did you get yours new or used? Might wanna take that bad boy back. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Used. No hard drive. It could be the rental game. It does have a few scratches, and since I suck at playing it, I might return it for another one. _________________ John R. Gibson

You know, for the amount of cash these next-gen systems cost, they should be foolproof. For 500 bucks they should at least play games if not wash my clothes and do my taxes! What games are you gonna try out? _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Too weird to live, too rare to die." --Hunter S Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Well, rented DIRT. I suck at playing it. Will return it for something else. Game looks great (when it actually does play), but as much as I like racing games, this one is a little tough to get the hang of. _________________ John R. Gibson

When the 360 came out, my friend had bought one. One of the problems they had was over heating and not playing some games. They had to send it back to microsoft to change a part out in the system. They have not had a problem sense. Who knows though. _________________ "Like my mask? Isn't it pretty? It raises the dead!" -Giles
I am on my 2nd 360.My first one got the red rings of death. All due to overheating which caused a hardware failure.Sent it back to MS and they replaced it with another one.Which has more heat sinks in it to protect it from overheating. But like John,i do find if i rent games with scratches on them it won't read them.
That's why i follow the old rule.Rent...copy...return.Therefore having the game on a brand new dvd+r dual layered disc. .
I heard it's cost Bill Gates 1.5 billion dollars replacing faulty xbox 360's.
I still love my 360 and i wouldn't touch the PS3 with a 10 foot pole.
I'm on my 3rd 360. Haven't had any problems as I got this one in April last year.
I can at least say Microsofts customer service has been AWESOME in comparison to Sony. I had 2 PS2's break on me due to Sony's little Disk Read Error problem and could never get them to do anything about it.
What is it with consoles today? I never had these sort of problems with old NES or SNESs. Sure, you might need to blow in the cartridge a few times to get rid of that flashing green screen, but they'd never completely break down on you. Now you have "disc read errors" out the ass, and systems that completely die on you forcing you to get replacements. Right now my Nintendo Wii apparently has some video card problems as I'm getting tons of little flashing dead pixels all over my screen whenever I play a game. I'll have to send that in to get replaced soon as it's become annoying and ugly. I bought a 360 about 3 weeks ago but haven't taken it out the box yet. I'm afraid to turn the thing on! lol
This sort of thing makes no sense. I shouldn't need to buy 3rd party cooling devices just to make sure my systems don't burn out, when they shouldn't be burning out in the first place. What a joke. _________________

I have a Xbox (primarily to play Blue Dragon) and my PS3. I will have to admit that the Six axis after awhile had a tendency to stick in the up position. I bought a Dualshock 3 and have had no problem so far.
About my Xbox, I've had no problems so far. My only gripe is the limited backward compatibility. I can't play Knights of the Old Republic or Oddworld Stranger's Wrath (but ironically, I can play Munch's Oddesey!). _________________ Let's Croak some Toad!-Deadeye Duck
Yeah, not only does the 360 have th dreaded red ring of death problem, it also has bad dick drives.
My 360 won't read certain games, and will freeze up at the same spot in those games, and for the games it does read, it makes a horrible grinding noise. I also suspect that it's putting scratches in my game disks as well.
The problem is, MS will only repair it for free if your system red rings out, so many people call and tell them the system got the RROD when it's really just got a faulty drive so they don't have to pay for the repairs. _________________ http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom...18&owner=Umaro4&mode=vown
Nowadays, my 360 will think that a game I put in is a DVD, and then it says in 8 different languages that this is a DVD, or this is NOT a DVD, or something like that.
I sit there talking to my 360 "This is not a DVD, jackass. This is Dead Rising" _________________ John R. Gibson
