I figured since we have this Interlude segment on the show, and Kevin Smith is into comic books, and does comics himself, he would be a great guest host for Season 4....if I can get him.

Not sure of the right way to contact him and ask without sounding desperate, dumb, or promotional.

Those who know me know I wouldn't try to get big names on the show just to get higher views, or whatever. Honestly, the numbers mean jack shit to me.

I do, however, want to aim higher this season. Have people on the show that I respect, have my heroes on the show. It would thrill me to death, as I'm sure it would the lot of you.

Maybe if he gets requests from more than just me, it might work. Of course, in the internet world, that can be called many things...bad.

O.o That would be sick as hell, and I think the best way to get a hold of him would be to find a way to send a letter. And no offense, but sometimes begging isn't as bad as it seems. It worked for Jack Black in School Of Rock when they wanted the Immigrant Song. So if you want us your lackeys to help find a way we can, and if you also want us to send letters or such it would be fine with me at least.

But still it would be cool as hell to get a big name on, and your right, numbers aren't everything, I mean this show is basically, a group of similar minded folks, who never out grew what they were suppose to and still enjoy it. I mean I dont think I could ever outgrow some comics (Though in a previous episode COMICS ARENT FOR KIDS and neither was Star Wars lol) games, cartoons, and everything we loved. I think you should just jump and if the waters end up a bit chilly at least you tried.

Dear Kevin Smith,

My name is ____________ and I am writing this letter to ask you if you would do a special appearance on our show. The name of the show is Video Masters TV and I (John) started it about 13 years ago in my basement using nothing more than a video recorder and VCRs. As time progressed the show expanded and now we have multiple hosts spread across the country, all putting their own styles into the show.

The show has a "at home feel" and we don't promote games for companies or comics that are sent to us, we just play video games and read comics because it is our passion. We enjoy the fact of sharing information about games and true, all is opinionated, but we do it for fun and kicks and giggles. Some of the show is reviews, some is nothing more than comic relief (nice pun huh) but the intended purpose of the show is trying to connect us similar minded folks together, add all our personalities and create a goofy show that we honestly do just for fun.

It would be an honor to have you guest appear on our show and do just about anything you felt like bringing to the table. We normally don't have a set plan but it is, as said, we are a more home grown show. We know you are big comic book fan, writer, and a comic book store owner, we were thinking that you do a guest segment on the show. Purely up to you, whatever you decided to do and such.

We are not doing this for any promotional reasons whatsoever. I am trying to aim higher for the show, and invite people that I have looked up to and have great respect for. That is the only reason. This show has never been about ratings or creating a massive fan base, its there for people to enjoy, watch and get a chuckle.

I thank you for your time in reading this letter and I hope that you will respond back.

Sincerely,

John Gibson

A PURE ROUGH DRAFT!

Something like that maybe O.o add more history of the show and tell him a bit more about how or what or why we do it.... Just my opinion.

Wow, I couldn't have written a better letter.

I'm wondering though, if he'd want to be compensated somehow. I mean VMTV wouldn't be the first show he'd be on, if he agreed.

Look at this.

Kevin Smith reviews comic books with the host of The Anti Gravity Room. Tune in about 2 minutes in, or so.

Well understandable about the compensation part but alas, you know..... wing it...... throw the ball, and who knows if he wants something in return who knows, he might just hop on you tube start watching some of the shows, get a kick out of it and then he might just do it..... And ya, I was coerced as a child to write essays/ letters/ and pretty much anything with a volume of data being shoved into a certain frame with fluidity. Blame my grandmother on my writings she made me write essays for practice.... needless to say it shows sometimes lol.

It's funny you mention a grandmother. My grandma was the only one who supported me doing Video Masters back then.

She passed away July, 2006, less than a month before I started doing the first episode of VMTV.

I went from one supporter to many. It's great to see so many of you out there who support what I, and everyone involved is doing.

I hope it continues to spread, and hopefully, Kevin doesn't give a shit about the numbers, either.

"What? Your show only has 57 fans? Fuck off!"

Here's hoping he'll say "Fuck off" in a nice way.

Well, 57 DIEHARD fans...... but still we are loyal lol. Just do it though! lmao I mean, whats the worse he says.... No.. I wont, then we continue on with the show such as you wanted to and try and try again, maybe if we send him a letter every day he might do it (It worked for Dufresne). But Mr. Smith seems like a very sensible and intelligent person and obviously into comics and stuff like it, if he has time I don't think I foresee any glitches.... Anythings worth a try.

I sent him a Facebook message/post, though considering he gets a bajillion a day, who knows if he'll catch it.

Alternative course of action, get his phone number.

Downside, many consider that stalking.

I could join his forums on viewaskew.com, but it costs $2 to join, and I don't have the money to spend on that at the moment.

Hmmm, give me a few days and I might be able to find a way to send him an email or even a letter. Maybe I can pull something outta my ass.

viewaskew@viewaskew.com If we could figure out how to perfect that letter, I will send it and I will be the representative for the show. So if we could figure out a way you and I could talk and write this letter to perfection we could attempt to send it and hopefully something fruitful happens.

The letter you got is fine, but maybe if he gets more than one letter from us, and not some cut and paste jobs of the same letter. Then it would be spam.

Maybe if Kevin knew the followers and devoted fans VMTV has, and what fans they are of him, he might agree to do a little something.

Well John, one thing DOES come to mind...... We could 1 of 2 things. We could all send letters and hopefully something comes from it or we could be a little crazy and create a short online VMTV *such as the ultimate meet up* and do a dedication to movies he has produced, and all the laughs we got out of him as Silent Bob. Just a off the wall idea, but maybe a crazy suggestion that might work lmao. But the way I see it, nothing can really hurt us in this hunt for the Mr. Smith.

Kevin Smith is literally a block away from my house filming his latest movie.

Do I dare approach him and ask the BIG question?
