Anyone who's visited Game Trailers recently has probably seen their new Girls of Gaming ads plastered everywhere. Personally I take this quite offensivley, it's like they're saying that gamers are idiots and as long as there are half naked women they'll click on anything. They seem to think this is going to get more viewers, but honestly I don't think it is. The only people who are going to watch this new segment are the unfourtante fifty year old men who have never had a date in their life.
If you've been to their forums at all you'll see that their target demographic seems to be in the boys/men aged 15-25 range. So this fits in perfectly with that demographic. I don't really see the big deal with them doing it. I certainly don't take any "offense" to it. I don't particularly care about it either. It's just something I see out the corner of my eye and move on. *shrugs*
Same here. I don't bother much with Gametrailers, except for a new AVGN episode. I tried posting some of Season 1 and 2 of VMTV there. No one was biting, cause we're dealing with a generation who doesn't have the attention span to sit through something for more than 3 minutes. _________________ John R. Gibson

I like Gametrailers. I mainly go for their Retrospectives and the Screwattack stuff but not much else.

I usually go there to look at upcoming games, reviews, and the occasional 'Nerd' episode if i'm in the mood. I'll even watch 'Bonus Round' if the topic is worth my time. That's pretty much it as far as 'Gametrailers.com' is concerned. I also agree that their site, and content isn't as insightful as 'VMTV', and it would've been a nice addition to the site, but oh well. Besides. i like the 'independent' vibe of 'VMTV', anyways. _________________ If it's got wings, i can crash it!

Game Trailer's is also very lazy with the upload of the AVGN videos, James himself has said that videos will be done, but they just seem to upload them when they feel like it.
Also VMTV, I like the independent feel. I don't think the people who visit GT would appriciate what we do.
They wouldn't, cause I believe it's Gametrailers and AVGN folk that leave the "mom's basement" insult on the shows.

I like the AVGN videos myself but I don't really have much respect for his fans.
They don't even really seem to get it.
His new video is up. This is one he let the fan's write. It's just mindless cursing and bad imitations of his style (there was one quote I did like though, something along the lines of - "The A*sholians bow down and worship this sh*t").
They don't seem to get the whole Self-Parody aspect of the AVGN - the fact that the character is more of a pathetic joke than the games are because he wastes his time complaining about them - because he's almost a masochistic gamer.

I agree 100% The whole appeal of AVGN isn't the mindless swearing. The whole appeal is watching a grown man get pissed over something like a video game.

I agree. Some people actually think that James' character is suppose to be taken seriously when in fact, he's really just playing a 'character'. Sure, he tears apart bad games that truly deserve it, but he's doing it 'in character' with self deprecating humor. Kinda like the 'Al Bundy' of videogames.
