I know i've mentioned a look at the many 'Flash Gordon' incarnations before, and in light of that, i'd also like to include this pilot movie that Filmation produced called 'The Greatest Adventure Of All'. For an animated venture from the late 70's, Filmation actually put some effort into this. Sure, there's the usual re-use of animation poses, and walk cycles that Filmation was known for, but the full movements actually make up for it's short comings. The tone is serious, but balances it with a good sense of fun that the 'Flash Gordon' is known for, and i was also amazed at how they incorporated a reference to Hitler, and the word 'hellhole' into the script. As well as some sexual undertones from Ming's daughter, Princess Aura. (Voiced by 'She-Ra', herself, Melendy Britt.)  While BCI Eclips has the complete series on DVD, 'The Greatest Adventure Of All' sadly isn't. Maybe someday, they'll get around to releasing it because this is a great gem, and definitely worth a look.

I don't remember this cartoon, but saw it recently on Youtube. Looks great, actually. I hope to get it on DVD, so I can review it.

I remember reading somewhere that this pilot movie was made before the series, but didn't see the light of day until 1982 when it was shown on NBC in prime time.
