Anyone here have a physical collection of classic games. Basically, would you call yourself a collector of them?
I keep getting hit with these constant bouts with nostalgia every once in a while and was recently thinking that starting a collection of old school games (and maybe classic gamer-related stuff) would be a cool thing for me to do. Most original cartridges that I had when I was a kid I no longer have, so unfortunately I have to rely on emulation when I want to take a trip to the past, but it's just not the same. I like Virtual Console on Wii for the most part, but there's nothing like actually having the actual cartridge to pop into the actual console and playing with the actual controller.
I know most games are relatively inexpensive at places at Ebay -- it's the rare ones which tend to be crazy expensive that kind of put me off of starting this. And it's the rare ones that I'm sure to want the most. But perhaps I will actually get the balls to start out.
Anyone else do this? Pictures would be an added bonus.
I've gotten more since then. I'm pushing th 800 mark
I don't really consider myself a collector. Just a gamer who has a lot of games. Collectors are the types that buy factory sealed games to hold them and not open them. That's not me. I must play them.
I highly recommend a Turbo Duo. It might cost more but it's got a great library and if you're not against downloading, it's not too difficult to burn Cds for it. _________________ http://www.what-song.net http://www.rogershanks.com

I am against illegally downloading roms and stuff, but I'm all for making backups of the games you own in order to protect the originals which is perfectly legal.
From what I hear, the Sega CD also allows for playing of burnt copies without any kind of 3rd party device as well.
I can dig that. You won't find me trying to get isos of Metal Gear Solid 4 or GTA or anything, but if I want to play Super Raiden or Rondo of Blood on actual hardware, I won't mind finding them online. For me, it's not about saving money or ripping anybody off (although it is in part to avoid eBay extortion), I just want to experience these things that I can't otherwise. Usually when a game becomes available legitimately (usually through Virtual Console), I will pay for it.
