Ok, I haven't posted ANYTHING here on the forums in well over 7 decades!
I was reading RETRO GAMER magazine and came across a huge article on the whole Castlevania series which then led me to GameStop and purchasing the original game that was ported to the GBA/SP.
I've just a small problem: I read that the GBA memory was used to SAVE the level you are on by pressing both triggers, but I tried it both on the GBA SP and my DS, and nothing is saved after power is shut off and then back on. Is this the way it's supposed to work or is the system's memory supposed to hold this save point?
Side Note:
This is my FIRST EVER experience playing Castlevania. I know it's hard to believe.
No clue on that saving the level on your GBA SP, bro. Maybe it's not meant to be.
It's safe to say I'm not a fan of Castlevania, though I still own the original NES cartridge, and the original SNES cartridge. I've played Castlevania II (not as bad as people think). I briefly owned Castlevania for the N64. Game kinda sucked. After that, I never followed the series after that, especially after all the weird titles like Castlevania: Intimate Portrait on Lifetime, and Castlevania: The E! True Hollywood Story. _________________ John R. Gibson

"What does God need with a starship?" - Star Trek V
Those subtitles seriously got outta hand. I have played all three newer Castlevanias on the GBA but I havent played the original Castlevania in years and years.
My favorites in the series: Castlevania 4(SNES), Circle of the Moon(GBA), and Symphony of the Night(PSX). I thought that Lament of Innocence(PS2) was fun despite the horrid voice-acting and outdated level design. _________________ "One of God's own prototypes. Ok. I've found out the answer, most likely, to my question.
My GBA SP was plugged into the wall power and I shut it off at a certain level, in anger actually, after dying multiple times on the same spot! That level was hard - STAGE 07.
A while later, I turned it back on, still attached to the wall AC. IT HAD SAVED IT!
So I guess my GBA SP is just so old, the internal battery, once power is shut off, just doesn't hold a current unless the thing is plugged into the wall.
So what I'm going to do is keep it plugged into this outlet, in my living room, and just play it here when I get small chances.
