Baldurs Gate 2 Shadow of amn is the sequel to the game Baldurs gate from 1998
The Story
As always the story centers around you and your heritage as a spawn of the God Bhaal there are always people willing to exploit that and use it to their own purpose.
And this time is no different; you begin in a dungeon after an unknown capture has run experiments on you for days.
Whit the help of your childhood friend Imoen you manage to get out of your cage and quickly free your two former companions Minsc and Jaheira.
You quickly arm yourself and set your course to escape this prison.
Unfortunately no sooner have you escaped before you´re hurled into a battle between your captor an man called Irenicus and some unknown assassins, which results in him and Imoen being taken away by the local law in forcemeats and sent to a prison on a distant island.
Now your task is set, Free Imon and get some answers from Irenicus and so the Game begins.
Baldurs Gate 2 is an RPG/hack ´n slash game, in other words LOTS and LOTS of dialog in the game, plus a lot of fighting plus a whole lot of side missions.
These missions can be everything from helping a girl liberating her castle which has been invaded by trolls, to solving mysterious murders on the streets.
As whit the previous game you can choose your alignment from start, though not changing the overall story it does change the outcome of certain dialog options and rewards.
The Graphic in the game hasn´t changed much you still look on everything from above and your characters haven´t that much of details in them other than their portraits.
If you have played the previous game you will run into several well known characters both playable and NPC´s (non playable characters) amongst others Edwin the Red Wizard and Drizzt Do'Urden.
Like every good RPG you can form romances whit both the female and male characters of your group though it all depends on the gender of your character.
The voice acting in the game is every bit as brilliant as can be expected from an RPG game of such standards.
Same could be said about the music score in the game which is in every way a treat for the ear.
Unfortunately there are also bad things in the game, the games fighting system is based on the D&D rules and unlike the first game no tutorials are given in how it all works, so if your unfamiliar whit those rules some of the game might be a bit hard to understand.
If you only stick to the main story you can more or less pretty much complete the game in 2 or 3 days.
So what do I say, whit a great story, memorable characters,a good music score, veyr well made scenery and a not to hard learning curve this game, this is the kind of game that will live on for many years in the future, and will make most modern day games pale, so it is a defiant
